What are the signs of a broken scaphoid bone(wrist)?

i fell and hit it in the edge of a granite countertop it started getting better then i fell again and only caught myself with that hand and now it is just a really dull ache that hurts really bad when i touch or move it! what will be done if it is broken? if it is a cast where will it go to i know at least my thumb and wrist? but please help!
