My Dell Dimension 3000 is 2 yrs old and the sound is craclking when I play anything on it. How do I fix that?

I have installed nothing new on my computer and my speakers are fine. To fix it, I read on the internet to uninstall my Primary IDE Channel and reboot. That fixed it, but only for a few days and I have to repeat the process to stop the "crackling and popping" sound. I am tired of having to do that every few days and I need a permanent solution.
